In this IMG activity you can define authorization levels used with availability control (AVC). Authorization levels can be used with AVC tolerance profiles to indicate that specific users can bypass the defined AVC checks and use different tolerance limits that you define for them.

Note: Authorization levels can be used in a variety of ways, depending on how your organization's user roles are set up.

A customer can insert an authorization level defined in this IMG activity into any calling application that uses AVC in order to bypass the defined AVC checks. It is recommended to define the authorization level to match the company user roles.

No authorization levels are defined for any of the applications.

  1. Define an authorization level.
  2. Create an AVC tolerance profile in Define Availability Control (AVC) Tolerance Profiles.
  3. Select a tolerance profile and choose a message type that you want to assign an authorization level to.
  4. Choose Tolerance limits and assign an authorization level.
  5. Ensure that the current user's authorization level is communicated properly to the fund posting services. If required, adapt the calling application to provide the importing parameter "IV_AUTH_LEVEL", which is the current user's authorization level and which must match one of the entries in step 4.

Company ABC has roles 'Employee', 'Manager' and 'Vice- President' who are working with claims and funds management. They want to identify 'Vice-President'' as an authorization level that can override defined AVC checks in fund usages. They define an authorization level "Vice-President" in this IMG activity, and then incorporate this into the code of the application that calls the AVC fund usage logic. When the Vice-President is logged into the system, his authorization level is verified and then the AVC tolerances are based on this.
