CRMV_FUZZY_CUST - Activate and Configure Fuzzy Search

You can activate a fuzzy search for business partners to provide search results when a user does not know the precise search string. When the fuzzy search is activated, the user can choose between the options Regular Search and Fuzzy Search in the search screens.

The fuzzy search is executed by Service. The attributes that are considered by the fuzzy search are listed in table TSAD10.

To activate the fuzzy search, you can use one of the following services, depending on your requirements:

  • Partner software products that offer extended fuzzy search capabilities (see SAP Note 176559 for information about certified partners)
  • SAP HANA-based fuzzy search and duplicate check (see SAP Notes 2577060, 2577056, and 2833993).

You activate and configure the fuzzy search as follows:

  • In transaction SE18, activate the relevant implementation of the BAdIs ADDRESS_SEARCH and ADDRESS_UPDATE.
If you are using the SAP HANA-based fuzzy search and duplicate check, activate the implementation SIC_ADDR_DUPL_CHECK (BAdI ADDRESS_SEARCH).
In the current Customizing activity, activate the fuzzy search for the following objects, as required:
  • BUS1006 (for accounts, contacts, and employees)

  • BUS1006002 (for the work addresses of contacts).

In the SAP NetWeaver Customizing activity, activate the following index pools:
  • BUT000 (for accounts, contacts, and employees)

  • BUT052 (for the work addresses of contacts).

  • MOM052 (for the personal attributes of employees)

  • Define the percentage match thresholds for the fuzzy search (the percentage similarity as of which an entity is considered a search hit).
  • If you want to use the same thresholds for the fuzzy search and the duplicate check, you specify the threshold in the SAP NetWeaver Customizing activity, in the Threshold BAPIsfield.

  • If you want to use different thresholds for the fuzzy search and the duplicate check, you define the threshold for duplicate checks in the SAP NetWeaver Customizing activity, and for the fuzzy search in the current Customizing activity.

Recommendation

We recommend that you test the threshold by increasing the percentage value until the fuzzy search and duplicate check produce an appropriate set of results.
