You can use this Customizing activity to define the condition types that use the transaction tiering function during outgoing royalty billing.

The entries you make in this activity have precedence over any entries in Customizing activity Define Data Values.

  • You have activated the IPM: Transaction Tiering (IPM_TIER) feature in the Billing Engine application IPMO.
  • You have created the condition type with the scale type graduated-to interval scale.

Standard settings

In the standard system, the following condition types are available for transaction tiering:

  • 17TG,,License Fee Gross Retail Price Transaction Tiering
  • 17TN,,License Fee Net Retail Price Transaction Tiering
  • 17TV,,License Fee Net Value Transaction Tiering

These condition types are included in the following pricing procedure in the standard system:

  • 17IP16 - IPM Trans. Tiering Bill. Doc.

The condition types listed above use the following data values for the calculation of the royalties respectively:

  • 3PGP,,Gross Retail Price for Product Sold
  • 3PNP,,Net Retail Price for Product Sold
  • 3PS0,,Net Value of the Product Sale

All of the condition types use the data value 3PS1 (Number of Product Sales) for the scale basis. The scale basis is never reset, which is indicated by the cumulation scope A(ITD: Inception to Date).

  1. Enter the condition type you wish to configure for transaction tiering.
  2. Enter a data value to use as the basis for calculating the royalties.
  3. Enter a cumulation scope to use for the scale basis. The cumulation scope defines whether and when the system resets the scale basis.
  4. Enter a data value to use as the scale basis.

Restrictions

You cannot use a data value for the scale basis that contains a value if you use a data value for the royalty basis that contains a quantity.
