In this Customizing activity, you make settings for grouping products within a subscription order. The payment groups for order capturing that you define are assigned to products (items) when you define the relevant product. These payment groups are used in the subscription order to control which contract account can be assigned to the individual sales order items. During the billing process, the contract account determines which items can be listed separately and which can be combined in one bill. It also determines how the individual items are to be paid.

For payment groups which are marked as Prepaid or Prepaid or Postpaid, you have to define a prepaid schema in the Customizing activity Define Prepaid Schema. For the integration of SAP CRM with SAP Convergent Charging, you have to activate the forced creation of new contract accounts for prepaid product groups.

You define a payment group for order capturing and specify whether it is to be used for prepaid accounts or postpaid accounts. If you use the payment procedure Prepaid or Postpaid, you define this during order capturing.

You also define whether one standard contract account must be assigned to an entire group of order items or an alternative contract account can be used for the individual subscription order items of a group.

For prepaid payment groups, specify the prepaid schema that you want to use. Also specify whether you want the system to force new contract accounts to be created for each contract main item of this payment group. If you want to make the creation of new contract accounts mandatory, you also must allow the individual assignment of contract accounts. Otherwise, the data for payment groups may be inconsistent.
