CRMV_ITM_CATTYPE - Assign Item Categories to Catalog Categories

In this Customizing activity, you map item categories to catalog categories. This is a required step if you want to enable the direct assignment of categorization schemas to item categories, and use multilevel categorization on item level.

Per item category, you can create multiple combinations of item category and catalog category. When creating categorization schemas in SAP S/4HANA for customer management, you can assign one combination of item category and catalog category per schema. Thus, you can assign multiple categorization schemas to one item category. This in turn enables you to use multiple blocks of categorization schemas on item level in the application that uses multilevel categorization.

Moreover, you have to make settings for the following functions:

• Find related objects

• Automatic completion via templates

• Mapping categorization schemas to item categories requires additional configuration.

• In order for the settings in this Customizing activity to take effect, you also have to make the settings in Customizing activity Define Application Areas for Categorization.

Mapping categorization schemas to transaction types and item categories is not available for IC-specific business transactions.

• Map item categories and catalog categories according to your business processes.

• Define if the following functions are activated for a combination of item category and catalog category.

• Find related objects

If you use the find related objects function, the system proposes objects with the same category assignments. If you want to display the related objects, you have to choose More -> Find Related in the corresponding business transaction in SAP S/4HANA for customer management.

• Automatic completion via templates, for example service order templates.

In the category modeler, you can assign service order templates to categories. If you select the relevant category in a business transaction, you can choose More -> Auto Complete to transfer the data from the relevant service order template.

You can activate the find related objects and auto complete functions only once per item category (for one combination of item category and catalog category only). This ensures that the system can identify which schema to use for which function, in the case of multiple schemas per item category.
