In this Customizing activity, you define receiver types for outbound correspondence.

When an event is triggered, it can have an impact on multiple parties. The type of information that goes with an outbound correspondence message can differ from one party to the other. To facilitate this, multiple receiver types can be defined. A receiver type can have multiple receivers. Each receiver type is associated with a specific profile and every profile has a corresponding mail form.

For example, when a new member is added to a group membership, the new member and the main member have to receive intimation about this event (creation of a new member) through an outbound correspondence message. Here, the new member and the main member are the receiver types.

SAP provides a standard set of receiver types. You can define a new receiver type.
