In this Customizing activity, you determine ranges for various KPI values. This allows you to classify marketing projects by KPIs values.

A cluster of marketing projects that uses KPIs can then be grouped on the basis of the ranges you define here. For more information, see Define BW Settings.

You can structure ranges and range values to suit your requirement.

  1. Specify a Range Rule ID. A Range Rule ID consists of one or more ranges.
  2. Specify the Range IDs part of the Range Rule ID. A Range IDconsists of a value range
  3. Specify the the start and end of a value range. Enter a description for each start and end value combination.

You want to classify marketing projects based on their priority and you want to use net revenues as the criteria determining its priority.

1. First we define an overall container, that is, Range Rule ID: R1.

2. Classifying priorities as Low, Medium and High, we need three KPI Range IDs: R11, R12, and R13.

3. Now we specify the KPI start and end values for each priority: Low: 0 - 1000; Medium: 1001 - 2000; High: 2001 - 3000.

You then assign this Range Rule ID to the required business user role, in Customizing activity Define Grouping Rules.
