In this IMG activity, you define counter types. You need counter types whenever you want to enter counter readings.

You use the counter type to define the following:

• Temporal tolerance for entering future counter readings
  Enter the temporal tolerance in seconds. This function is only recommended when the counter readings are transferred from another system whose CPU time (time when the counter readings were entered) differs from the CPU time in the SAP System.

• Message type output for a counter overflow

• Input mode
  You can define here whether a user generally enters the visible value or the difference between counter readings, for example, for readings of this counter. erfasst.

• Display of to date in the reading

You want to enter a counter reading for color copies on a copier. You want the visible value - that is, the current value of the reading - to be entered. You have to define a counter type to do this.

1. Enter a unique number and a description (such as "Color Copier" for the counter type
2. Choose a message type that will be output for a counter overflow
3. Choose input mode Enter Visible Value
