In this activity, you define an object relationship profile. You then assign this object relationship profile to a transaction type.

This enables you to refer to objects defined for this object reference profile directly from an activity, such as individual objects, business agreements or preceding documents. Individual objects are objects that can be uniquely identified, such as a car by its license plate or serial number, or a house by its unique address and postal code. For example, an individual object could be a car, and this can be used as a reference object for the fire extinguishers you have installed in your house.

You can use this activity to make the necessary settings to link from an activity or opportunity to a preceding transaction, for example, a sales order or opportunity, subsequently. For example, you create a phone call and later see that this activity is a follow-up for a preceding sales order. You can then assign this activity to the preceding sales order subsequently.

The object relationships are displayed in the activity on the Relationships tab page. This tab page is only displayed if you have assigned an object relationship profile to the current transaction type. You can also link to preceding transactions or to other objects, such as individual objects or business agreements on the Details tab page, under Relationships, using the fast entry function.

In this Customizing activity, you specify the following for the subsequent assignment of follow-up activities and opportunities:

  • Whether a subsequent assignment can be made only on header level, or additionally on item level, by selecting the Item checkbox under Object Relationships
  • Whether you want to allow multiple entries for one transaction on the Relationships tab page, by selecting the Multiple Relationships Allowedcheckbox.
  • Which preceding transactions can be assigned subsequently
Under User Interface Settings, you can specify up to four preceding transactions for subsequent assignment on the Details tab page during transaction processing.
Under Object Relationships, you can specify any number of preceding transactions for subsequent assignment on the Relationshipstab page during transaction processing.

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Enter a key and a description for the object relationship profile.
  3. Select the required object relationship profile and choose Object Relationships. Here, you can specify which relationships are used, and you can set whether multiple relationships can be used.
  4. Choose User Interface Settings. Here, you can specify in what order the object relationships are displayed on the Detailstab page and which relationship is displayed on the Productstab page.
  5. Save your entries.
