SAP E-Book

In this activity, you define the RFC connections by which data is communicated between CRM and external systems. Data is communicated via the RFC protocol.

If the external system provides RFC server functionality, you need to maintain an RFC connection so that CRM can connect directly between the CRM servers and the external server. In most cases (when maintaining target systems like ERP, BI) this will be an RFC connection of type 3 (connection to an ABAP System). For details on how to set up this RFC connection refer to the documentation on the external system you are using.

These connections must be defined before you are able to maintain the systems themselves in the activity Define Target Systems (ERP, BI, SEM, CPRO).

To be able to send mails from Marketing using the communication channels e-mail, fax, or SMS, you need to set up an RFC connection for the SAP server. For more information, see the SAP Library under SAP NetWeaver Components -> Basis Services / Communication Interfaces (BC-SRV) -> Communication Interfaces (BC-SRV-COM).

For information on RFC connections, see the SAP Library under SAP NetWeaver Components -> Basis Services / Communication Interfaces (BC-SRV) -> Remote Communications (BC-SRV-RC).

Example

Note

In the maintenance screen for the RFC connection, choose Connection Test to check that CRM can reach the external system via RFC.
