The copied billing due list item requires its own item category. The item category is used to determine, amongst other things, the partner determination procedure, the pricing procedure, and the billing type to be used. In general, these attributes differ from those of the original item.

In this work step, you assign the billing item category for the copied item to the billing item category of the original item. This assignment is a necessary prerequisite for the activation of the supplementary invoice. If an item category for the copied item is not assigned to the billing item category here, a partner-based copy of the billing due list entry is never created. This means that this assignment makes it possible to activate the supplementary invoice for certain order items only.

A CRM standard order with transaction type TA and transaction item category TAN is entered. Billing item category TAN is determined based on the transaction type and transaction item category.

If no item category in this IMG activity is assigned to billing item category TAN, no partner-based copy of the billing due list entry is created for the incoming CRM standard order item. It does is irrelevant whether or not the order contains a partner with the partner function with which the copy would usually be triggered.

If an item category in this IMG activity is assigned to billing item category TAN, it is possible to create a supplementary invoice.

In principle, the supplementary invoice also works in the delivery-related scenario. In this scenario, the billing item category of the delivery must also be assigned with an item category to be used for the copied item. It is irrelevant whether the partner who triggers the actual copy is transferred via the order or the delivery.
