SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you create variants that determine the data entities processed during data cleansing for accounts and employees. If you do not create your own variants, the standard variants apply (see "Default Settings" below).

You can create variants that determine which data entities are relevant for the following procedures:

  • Automatic merging of data records in the background (without user interaction)
  • Checking by the business user prior to merging (display on the WebClient UI of the cleansing case)
Business users can check conflicts and differences for these data entities and select which piece of data will be transferred to the master data record during the merge.

If you want to use different variants depending on the attributes of a cleansing case, you can use a Business Add-In (BAdI) for this. For example, for records that tend to be large, such as employee records, you can determine that processing of most of the data takes place in the background. You can find the BAdI in the Customizing activity BAdI: Determination of Variant for Data Cleansing.

Note

Data entities that are not included in the variants that you use for data cleansing are not merged during data cleansing. The data from the master record is retained.

In Customizing activity Define Data Entities for Selection in Cleansing Variants you have defined the data entities that can be used in your variants.

SAP provides the following default variants:

  • CLEARING (for data merge with user interaction)
  • CLEAR_REP (for data merge in the background)
  • FSBP_CLEAN (for rule-based cleansing in Financial Services, with user interaction)
  • FSBP_CC_R (for rule-based cleansing in Financial Services, in the background)
The Financial Services variants are automatically used if the business function CA_FSBP_CRM_CLEANSING_01 (FS-BP Cleansing) is active.

If you want to define different sets of data entities, you need to create your own variants in the customer namespace and add nodes to the structure as required.

You double-click on a variant to navigate to the tree structure. From the reference structure you can drag and drop nodes to the structure for your own variant.

If you have defined your own variants, you determine whether they are used for background processing or UI display. You do this in Customizing activity Select Variant for User Interaction and for Background Processing.
