There are a number of validation processes, such as postal validation, where error messages are displayed in the form of dialog boxes. These dialog boxes prompt the user to make a decision by either accepting or rejecting the data, and can be followed by a further user decision, if necessary.

In this activity, you can specify where you want the appropriate dialog boxes to appear. When validation checks are performed during processing and produce an ambiguous result, the API is interrupted and returns an error message. It is these error messages that provide the means by which the creation of the dialog boxes is triggered.

In the table, you enter the message which is to serve as the triggering message and the view (dialog box) that is to be created. If a message is found during BOL processing which is registered in this table, the appropriate dialog box is created.

You might, for example, not use the regional structure of the Business Address Services (BAS). In this case, you can enter your own messages and the relevant views.

You also have the option of suppressing superfluous information messages and warnings. If you set the Suppress indicator, the message is eliminated from the result list on the Business Object Layer (BOL) level and therefore does not trigger the creation of a dialog box.

An example is provided of an implementation for a decision dialog box. This is the view BP_ADDR/AddrDecision contained in the component BP_ADDR.

It provides a small dialog box with the text of the triggering message and the option to either accept or correct the data. You can also reuse this view, and enter it as the response to your particular error message.
