In this Customizing activity you can create new element types, for example, if you want to enable users to assign a new type of object to a case.

You make settings in registry maintenance. For detailed information about using this tool, see the documentation for the activity Maintain Registry in Customizing for Records Management, and the section Customizing in the SAP Records Management documentation in the SAP Library.

Note: To enable a new element type to be assigned to a case, you need to do the following after completing this activity:

  1. Assign the new element types with the corresponding relationship type and business object type to a process in the activity Assign Element Types and Business Object Types to a Process.
  2. Assign the new element type to a new case record model in the activity Create/Change Case Record Model.

Before you configure the registry, you must create the content models for storing case records, general records (optional), documents, and general notes. Use the content model wizard in Customizing for Records Managementto do so ( KPro Repository: Create Content Model).

After starting the activity, open the folder Application Registry. Expand the node S_AREA_CMG. This node represents the Case Management Area; all operations described below are executed under this node.

Note: All entries created in the registry maintenance are development objects and must therefore be assigned to a development package.

  1. Define as many RMS (Records Management System) as required:
An RMS logically separates business areas that are operated physically in the same client of an installation (similar to company codes, for instance).
An RMS can be used to control the visibility of element types and elements.
Under the node S_AREA_CMG (see above), select the node RMS_ID and choose the operation Create Parameter Value from the context menu. Enter a value (for example, S_CMG_DEMO) and a short text (such as Example Data).
  1. Define one or more element types for cases:
Under the node SCMG_SP_CASE, select the node SCMG_SPS_CASE. Choose the Copy function from the context menu and specify a name and a description. On the tab pages Connection Parameter and Classification, maintain the following parameters:
  • TERM_PROFILE (profile for texts that do not refer to a specific case type)

  • RMS_ID(choose the RMS ID defined in the previous step)

  • LOG_KEEP_DAYS(optional): Period of time for which the log is kept

  • LOG_LEVEL (optional): Level of detail of log

  1. Define one or more element types for the case search:
Copy the element type SCMG_SPS_CASE_LOCATOR and maintain the parameters:
  • TERM_PROFILE (meaning similar to element type for cases)

  • RMS_ID(choose the RMS ID defined in the previous step)

  1. Define one or more element types for case notes:
Copy the element type SCMG_SPS_CASE_NOTES and maintain the parameter:
  • RMS_ID

  1. Define one or more element types for case files:
Before defining the element type for the storage of case files you must have configured the storage of the case files yourself (see above). Copy the element type SCMG_SPS_CASE_RECORD and maintain the parameters:
  • DOCUMENT_CLASS (specify the created content model here)

  • MODEL_ID(choose '*' for no restriction on valid case file models)

  • RMS_ID

  1. Define one or more element types for storing documents:
Copy the element type SCMG_SPS_DOCUMENT and maintain the parameters:
  • DOCUMENT_CLASS

  • FUNCTION_GET_FORM_DATA (customer-defined function module for form data, optional)

  • TEMPLATE_ID(reference to office document template, optional, multiple value assignment)

  • RMS_ID

  1. Define the element type for file models and case file models:
Copy the element types SCMG_SPS_RECORD_MODEL and SCMG_SPS_MODEL and maintain the parameters DOCUMENT_CLASS and RMS_ID.
  1. Define one or more element types for storing general notes:
Copy the element type SCMG_SPS_NOTE and maintain the parameters:
  • DOCUMENT_CLASS

  • RMS_ID

  1. Define one or more element types for storing general files:
Copy the element type SCMG_SPS_RECORD and maintain the parameters DOCUMENT_CLASS, MODEL_ID, and RMS_ID(meaning analogous to the parameters of the case file element type):
  1. Define additional element types of other type (application-specific):
Depending on the application in which you use Case Management, it may be necessary to configure additional service providers and/or element types (for example, for business objects, file character generators, and so on). See the appropriate information in the documentation for the application.
