In this IMG activity, you define how taxes are calculated, dependent on the lease class (operating lease or capital lease, for example).

You can generally differentiate between two types of tax calculation; the main difference between them is the use of different tax bases:

  • Periodic tax:
In this tax calculation, the periodic payments are used as the tax base.
  • Lump-sum tax payment:
This tax calculation has two different determination methods.
First of all, you can take the base tax amount from one of the conditions defined in this IMG activity. Alternatively, you can calculate the tax base from the sum of periodic payments, including the value of any relevant condition (such as a purchase option), which you can also define in this IMG activity. You have to set the appropriate flags in the IMG activity in both cases.

You can also define when the tax becomes due. The rules apply to both new contracts and follow-on contracts. Special fields are available for the determination in follow-on contracts that enable you, for example, to define alternate due dates or different tax base value conditions.

If you use stamp duties (in Australia, for example), you can define here whether the last installment of a lease is subject to the stamp duty or not.

The rule for the respective process is determined primarily from the lease class. You can determine the local class, which is responsible for correct representation of the taxes, for each contract. Make sure that you have adjusted the check routines within the lease class accordingly.
