SAP E-Book

You use this Customizing activity to define standard settings for the replication of functional location data from SAP ERP for each client and site in the SAP CRM system.

As a prerequisite for this activity, you have to make various settings for the creation of objects. The object family Functional Location 0403 is predefined in the standard system. You have to maintain settings for hierarchies, categories, and set types.

Before you can maintain categories and hierarchies, you need to import categories (material types) from SAP ERP.

The object family Functional Location 0403, and the following set types exist in the standard system:

COM_TA_R3_ID

COM_TA_MANUFAC

COMM_PR_SHTEXT

COMM_PR_LGTEXT1

If required, you can use the activity Define Object Families to create your own object families.

If required, create your own set types. To do this, open the documentation for the Customizing activity Define Object Families and select the appropriate link. Note that the mapping of user-defined set types must be defined in the Business Add-In Creation of Objects by Functional Location Download.

Hierarchy and Category Assignment

Objects are categorized using hierarchies. Therefore, you need to define a category that should be used for functional locations. You can do this in the Customizing activity Assign Category Hierarchies to Applications.

Create categories and assign these categories to the appropriate set types of your choice. We recommend that you use the value Functional Location 0403, which is also used in the standard system.

When mapping the business partners of the functional locations, business partners are always saved as a relationship to the installed base.

Set Type
COMM_PR_SHTEXT Descriptions
COM_TA_MANUFAC Manufacturer's information
COM_TA_R3_ID SAP ERP identification
COMM_PR_LGTEXT1 Long texts

Assign object family 0403 to object category 0403

Object ID and Number Ranges

The functional location ID is used as the ID for the object (INOBJ_ID). Therefore, you need to check your definition of number ranges (transaction Product Number Ranges (Product Type 'Material')) and number assignment control (transaction Number Assignment Control).

The object integration framework can be used to further influence the creation or modification of objects. No additional settings are required for the standard flow. For more information, see SAP Library for SAP Customer Relationship Management in SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com -> SAP Customer Relationship Management -> Components and Functions -> Master Data -> Objects -> Integration with Other Applications -> Object Integration Framework.

Note on the Usage of Object IDs

Since the SAP ERP functional location number does not correspond to CRM object ID conventions, an appropriate conversion is performed in the flow. The CONVERSION_EXIT_PRID1_INPUT module is used for this purpose. Ensure that you follow the conventions and guidelines for the usage of IDs for objects when modifying sources, or implementing Business Add-Ins.

Define the following parameters for the functional location download:

  • Site Name: Site (receiver or supplier of data in the context of replication) for which the standard settings should be valid.
  • IBase Category: Category of the installed base that will be created for the functional location.
The installed base category FL is predefined in the standard system. This category is preconfigured for the use of functional locations as objects in the installed base.
  • Object Family: Object family of the object that will be created.
Note:
The object family is part of the object key. This means that the objects are identified by means of this family. If you define an alternative object family, you should not change it. Subsequent changes can lead to inconsistent data since the original objects can no longer be identified.
  • Category ID: Category of the object that will be created.
