SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you define restrictions for object families for each installed base category. These restrictions define which object families may be assigned to one another hierarchically.

The following installed base categories are defined in the standard system:

  • Installed base category 01 is reserved for the installed base.
  • Installed base category 02 is reserved for variant configuration.
  • Installed base category 03 is reserved for the object structure.
  • Installed base category EQ is reserved for the equipment imported from SAP ERP.
  • Installed base category IT is reserved for IS-T telephone numbers.
  • Installed base category IU is reserved for technical objects for IS-U.
  • Installed base category CM is reserved for Case Management.

For the selected installed base category, define the Restrictions in Object Families. To do so, enter the object families in the fields Superordinate Object Family and Subordinate Object Family and select the + field accordingly. The example below illustrates the options you have:

Example

Installation Category Superordinate Object Family Subordinate Object Family + Meaning
01 300 (gasoline pump) 100 (car)   An object from the object family 100 (car) may not be installed under an object of object family 300 (gasoline pump).
01 200 (engine)   No objects may be installed under object family 200 (engine).
01 200 (engine) 300 (gasoline pump) X Only one object from object family 300 (gasoline pump) may be installed under an object with object family 200 (engine).

The last two points must be interpreted together. The first point defines that there cannot be any object families assigned under object family 200 (engine); however, the second point defines an exception to that statement.
