SAP E-Book

You use this Customizing activity to define profiles for using objects in the Interaction Center (IC) WebClient. To do so, you assign a category to an object family.

After you have made all the necessary settings, you can create and search for objects in the IC WebClient.

Object Family and Set Types

As a prerequisite, you have to make various settings for the creation of objects. The standard system contains the Equipment (0401) object family. You must make settings for product hierarchies, categories, and set types.

You can either define product hierarchies and categories manually or import them from SAP ERP.

Hierarchy and Category Assignment

Objects are categorized using product hierarchies. Therefore, you must make the necessary settings for product hierarchies, and then create a category in the product hierarchy for equipment. You can edit the product hierarchy in the SAP Implementation Guide, under Cross-Application Components --> SAP Product --> Product Category --> Assign Category Hierarchies to Applications.

Then, create a category for equipment and assign this category with the necessary set types to the equipment object family (0401). Choose Equipment as the category description.

Use the following set types:

  • COMM_PR_SHTEXT,,Descriptions
  • COM_TA_MANUFAC,,Manufacturer's information
  • COM_TA_R3_ID,,,,R/3 identification
  • COMM_PR_LGTEXT1,,Long texts
  • COM_LOCAT_ADDR,,Addresses
  • COM_COMMERCIAL,,Business data
  • CRMM_PR_SALESA,,Sales: Control fields, quantities

Object ID and Number Ranges

The equipment number is used as the ID for the individual object (INOBJ_ID). Therefore be aware of number range maintenance and number assignment control.

In the standard system for SAP CRM 5.1, the object family Equipment (0401) is predefined with set types COM_TA_R3_ID, COM_TA_MANUFAC, COMM_PR_SHTEXT, COMM_PR_LGTEXT1, and COM_LOCAT_ADDR.

This object family is the only one that is supported in SAP CRM 5.1.

The following settings are necessary so that you can use objects in the IC WebClient:

  • Specify the object family Equipment (0401).
Note that objects are identified by using their superordinate object family. The object family is part of the object key. Therefore, only one object family may be entered at this point. If you change the object family later on, this may cause data inconsistencies, since the original objects can no longer be identified.
  • Enter the category ID.
Enter the category that should be used when creating objects. The category ID should be one that is included in the Prerequisites section, along with the set types also mentioned in that section.
  • Assign a partner function.
This is the partner function that appears as a default when objects are created.

If you do not make any settings in this Customizing activity, the following standard settings are used:

Object family: 0401

Category ID: Equipment

Note that even if you make no settings of your own in this activity, you must still make the settings described in the Prerequisites section.
