You use this IMG activity to assign previously maintained business partner hierarchies so that they are available in the following areas:

  • E-Selling B2B Web shop
  • Complaints and Returns Web application
  • Entitlement Inquiries

You use business partner hierarchies to enable business partners to carry out specific activities on behalf of other business partners . You can create business partner hierarchies for business partners within one company or across several companies. Once a business partner is assigned to a hierarchy, he can act on behalf of all subordinate business partners within the hierarchy.

You have created business partner hierarchies:

  1. Create a hierarchy category in Customizing for Cross-Application Componentsby choosing SAP Business Partner → Business Partner Group Hierarchy → Establish Hierarchy Category.
  2. Create a hierarchy tree, assign it to a hierarchy category, and assign business partners to the hierarchy tree. You carry out this step in the Account Hierarchy area in SAP CRM.
  • E-Selling B2B Web shop
You must enable the use of business partner hierarchies in the Web shop (see Activity step 3 below) once you have maintained this activity.
  • Complaints and Returns Web application
You must enable the use of business hierarchies in the Complaints and Returns Web application once you have maintained this activity
  • Entitlement Inquiries
Business partner hierarchies are enabled in the standard set-up for these areas. You maintain this IMG activity only to determine which business partner hierarchies are valid in these areas.
  1. Select a hierarchy category.
In this case all hierarchy trees assigned to the hierarchy category will be valid for use.
  1. Select a hierarchy tree (optional).
In this case only this specific hierarchy tree within the above specified hierarchy category will be valid for use.
  1. Enable the use of business partner hierarchies within the relevant application:
  • E-Selling B2B Web shop

Enable the use of business partner hierarchies in Shop Management. On the Transactions tab page select the box Allow transaction management for other business partners in hierarchy.
  • Complaints and Returns Web application

Enable the use of business partner hierarchies in Extended Configuration Management (XCM) for the Complaints and Returns Web application. Choose Start -> Components -> Customer -> cr_customizing and set the value for parameter allow_bp_hierarchy_usage to 1.

You create a business partner hierarchy of two nodes for Company X. You assign business partner A to the top node, and business partner B to the subordinate node and enable the use of hierarchies in your application.

Business partner A logs on to the Web shop and chooses the activity create order.The system displays business partners A and B in the dropdown list box for selection. Business partner A uses the dropdown list to select whether the order is for himself or for business partner B.

Business partner 2 logs on to the Web shop and chooses create order.The system displays only business partner B for selection in the dropdown list box. Business partner A is not displayed because he is superordinate to business partner B in the business partner hierarchy.

Note

If the business partner hierarchy contains more than 10 business partners, the system automatically replaces the dropdown list box with a dialog box, in which the business partner can directly enter another business partner in his hierarchy, or use the search help to find the specific business partner.
