You define the transaction types of your Web requests with this IMG activity.

You define business characteristics and features of a Web request and control attributes (for example, text determination procedure, partner determination procedure, status profile, organizational data profile) using the transaction type. The transaction type therefore controls the processing of Web requests in SAP S/4 HANA for customer management.

You create a request category for each Web request. You can also use a transaction type for several request categories.

A transaction type is assigned to one or more business transaction categories (for example, service, sales). The business transaction category determines the business context in which a transaction type can be used (for example, service, sales, activity). In each case one business transaction category is leading transaction category. Ensure that in the case of Web requests, you always define Service as leading business transaction category and assign the additional business transaction categories Salesand Business Activity.

Sample Transaction Types as Template

SAP recommends that you use the sample transaction types delivered as templates to create transaction types. By doing this, the Customizing settings tailored for Web requests are automatically copied to your own Web requests and/or request categories.

Execute the following copy activity in order to copy the settings of a sample transaction type:

  • Service is leading business transaction category
  • Additional business transaction categories are Sales and Business Activity
  • Assigned number range object is CRM_SERVICE
  • Setting the subject profile with activity reason Web Request

Note:
This IMG activity is used to define general business transactions. You can find the corresponding general information about defining transaction types under Customer Management -> Transactions -> Basic Settings -> Define Transaction Types.

The following sample transaction types are delivered for Web requests:

  • SWRAfor Web requests with items
  • SWRB for Web requests without items
  1. Select SWRA for a Web request with items or SWRB for a Web request without items and choose Copy... .
  2. Define more settings for your transaction type and save your data.

Additionally, you must define the Customizing for item category determination for transaction processing as well as for Customer Management billing. For more information, see the Customer Management Customizing of Define Item Category Determination and under Basic Functions -> Billing.
