CRM_LEAS_ASSET - Define Asset Categories

In this IMG activity, you define asset categories in your SAP CRM System that can be used in combination with the calculation of key figures for depreciation simulation, and which are required for determining depreciation rules. (Refer also to the Assign Depreciation Keys to Asset Category IMG activity).

The asset category is assigned to the device class. The device class, in turn, is assigned to the material (product master record).

The Customizing settings for the device class (Define Device Classes) refer to the asset

category. Here you can define the normal useful life for new and used fixed assets (materials).

Note the the term asset class is used only in SAP R/3 Financial Accounting in Asset Accounting. The asset category or device class can be used there for determining the asset class.
