In this IMG activity, you define the process hierarchy for product type Financial Service. This assignment can be changed manually after performing this IMG activity.

A Financial Services business acquisition process is defined by a process category. Process categories must be assigned to a process hierarchy. Products that you want to use in a business acquisition process have to be assigned to a process category.

A process category controls the following steps in a contract acquisition process:

  • If a process category is selected in the opportunity, this category is used to determine the assigned case type in Customizing if a CRM case is generated. If a product that is assigned to a process category is entered in the opportunity, the corresponding category is also used for case type determination here.
  • When a CRM case is generated from an opportunity, the process category is saved in the case automatically. If the case is used to generate a quotation, the process category is used to determine the transaction type maintained in Customizing. If you start with the CRM case directly - that is, you do not generate it from the opportunity - the process category has to be maintained in the case manually.
  • An acquisition process requires a variety of documents. Many of these documents are of a general nature and are therefore only dependent on the process category. You maintain this dependency in Customizing for document management.

  1. Check the identifiers of the hierarchies and categories and adapt them to your requirements as necessary. If you have already assigned a hierarchy to the Sales application, you should manually create within this hierarchy one category for consumer loans and one category for mortgage loans, and not create a new process hierarchy using this IMG activity. Only one single hierarchy can every be assigned to an application.
  2. You can delete any categories that you do not need in your scenario.
  3. Check the short texts of the hierarchy and categories and adapt them to your requirements as necessary. Please note that the names for hierarchies and categories are only created automatically in the logon language.
  4. Check whether the Product Assignment flags are set properly. It may only make sense to assign products at the lowest categories in your scenario.
  5. Choose Execute.
  6. From the SAP Easy Access menu, choose
  7. Process Categories and Hierarchies and check the new base hierarchy for Financial Service products.
    From here, you can
  • Set up a manual hierarchy

  • Manually postprocess an existing base hierarchy and break it down further

  • Create the names in different languages

  • Assign and remove set types and relationship types

  1. In the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG) assign the new process hierarchy to the Salesapplication under Assign Category Hierarchies to Applications.
