You can use this activity to assign scheduling strategies to item categories. The activity only refers to the Workforce Deployment Server (WFD Server) and not to external scheduling engines.

When creating a service process with resource planning-relevant items, the system tries to schedule these items using the strategy that is assigned to the item category. However, this is only possible if there are no existing assignments for the items.

Scheduling takes place according to the following logic:

  • If the First Response By (SRV_RFIRST) and ToDo By (SRV_RREADY) date types are assigned, the system tries to create an assignment within this period.
  • If these date types are not assigned to the item, the system tries to create an assignment within the period between the Requested Start (SRV_CUST_BEG) and Requested End (SRV_CUST_END).

If automatic scheduling fails, the resource planner must schedule the item manually. If this is the case no workflow is started, which means that the system does not send notification. The resource planner has to search for the unscheduled assignments in the resource planning tool and schedule them manually.

  • This function is available with the WFD Server.
  • You should have made the Customizing settings for the required strategies in the WFD Server. If you are using the WFD Server's built-in dispatcher, the default strategy can be used.
  • To ensure that the automatic creation of an assignment functions when using the WFD Server, you have to set up the publisher in Customizing for the WFD Server. You use the function module CRM_LRP_WFM_CALL_BACK as the callback module. The function module should be called when creating an assignment.
