The key figure planning is performed together with the planning tool Business Planning and Simulation (BPS). This planning tool is completely integrated in Marketing, which means that it is automatically called when you enter key figure planning data in Marketing, despite being in another system.

BPS was originally part of SAP Strategic Enterprise Management(SEM) and could either run on a separate SEM system or be integrated in SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI) with an add-on. With SAP NetWeaver 2004/BW 3.51, BSP became part of SAP NetWeaver BI and thus part of SAP NetWeaver.

The following possibilities exist for the system and software group:

  • CRM system together with SAP NetWeaver BI without a separate SEM system: BPS in SAP NetWeaver BI system
  • As of SAP NetWeaver 2004/BW 3.51 and higher: BPS is part of SAP NetWeaver BI and runs on SAP NetWeaver BI. A separate SEM system is not needed for marketing planning.

  • Older BPS versions: BPS is not yet part of SAP NetWeaver BI and is integrated with SAP NetWeaver BI through an add-on. A separate SEM system is not needed for marketing planning.

  • CRM system together with SAP NetWeaver BI and SEM system: BPS in SEM system
Older BPS versions: BPS is part of SAP SEM. A separate SEM system is needed for marketing planning.

In the following IMG activities, BPS in its broad sense is mentioned. Where BPS is installed depends on your system and software group.
