Sample optimization is used for the classification of samples when working with master groups and controlling determination of samples.

Master groups can be used as the basis for profile modeling and target group generation in Segment Builder. For each master group, it is possible to create as many samples as there are entries for sample optimization in Customizing.

In the user settings, the user configures centrally which sample optimization he/she wants to work with. Using this setting, the corresponding sample is displayed for the selected master group.

In the standard, SAP provides the following sample optimizations:

ID	Sequence	Description
001	10	quick
002	20	precise

These sample optimizations are used in the the standard SAP programs for master group generation.

The customer name range for your own sample optimizations goes from A** to Z**.

Activities

1. Choose New Entries.
2. Enter the ID for the sample optimization (depending on the relevant name range).
3. Ente the sequence that specifies where the sample optimization is assigned in relation to the other sample optimizatoins.
4. Enter a description for the type.
5. Save your data.

Along with the sample optimizations provided in the SAP standard, you can create any number of additional sample optimizations. These must then be taken into account in the report for master group generation.

The sequence determines the frequency sequence of a sample and is used in the modeling phase of the sample determination to determine a similar sample if the required sample cannot be found.
