SAP E-Book

The CRM product master contains attributes in the form of set types designed specifically for the pharmaceuticals industry.

The set types must be assigned to a product category for pharmaceutical products, so that they can be displayed and maintained for the products concerned. The following set types are required for the pharmaceuticals industry:

  • CMS_PROD_ATTR: Pharma Attributes
This set type contains the pharmaceutical attributes.
  • CMS_NDC_ALTID: NDC
This set type is used for the alternative ID for pharmaceutical products, the National Drug Code (NDC).

CMS_PROD_ATTR

The values allowed for the following attributes can be maintained in the corresponding Customizing activities:

  • CMS_THERA_CODE (Therap. Class Code)
  • CMS_GENERIC (Generic Code)
  • CMS_PROD_STR (Product Strength)
  • CMS_DOSAGE (Dosage Form)
  • CMS_ROUTE_ADM (Route of Admin.)
  • CMS_HICL (HICL)

CMS_NDC_ALTID

SAP delivers a predefined alternative ID type "NDC".

As the NDC can be represented in various formats, the following Customizing steps are required to ensure correct conversion between the formats during communication between the different parties involved:

Note the following points:

  • Internally the NDC is always stored in the format 5-4-2 without separators
  • The NDC codes used by the channel partners are specified in business partner maintenance
  • To optimize performance when using the NDC, you should create a secondary index for field FF0010 in database table CMS_NDC_ALTID

To make the Customizing settings required for alternative IDs, choose Cross-Application Components -> SAP Product -> Alternative Product ID.

To be able to search in product maintenance using the alternative ID, perform the following Customizing steps.
First check which profile is assigned to the product type Material and then assign this to "NDC". Alternatively, if no profile is assigned, define a profile:

  • Define Profiles: Specify the profile name to be used for the product search
