CRM_SDB_010 - Define Solution Types

In this IMG activity, you define the possible solution types in the Solution Database (SDB). For each solution type, you can specify:

• Default values for the Solution Subtype and Subject Profile fields in the SDB

When users create solutions of this solution type in the SDB, these default values are automatically proposed after the user specifies the solution type and chooses Enter.

• Catalog to be used when users specify a task when maintaining solutions of this solution type in the SDB

The catalog contains the code groups and the codes for each code group. The tasks that a user can specify are each identified by a code. Each code is assigned to a code group. For example, if the problem reported is a bare cable, the task Replace Cable could have a code assigned to the code group for replacement of parts. Catalogs, code groups, and codes are defined in Customizing for the Solution Database in:

• Define Catalogs

• Define Code Groups and Codes for Catalogs

• Status profile that is assigned to the solution automatically when users create solutions of this solution type in the SDB

If you do not specify a status profile for the solution type, users can specify a status profile manually when maintaining solutions of this solution type in the SDB. (The status profiles themselves are defined in the IMG activity Define Status Profile for User Status.)

• Default value for the Problem Type field in the SDB

When users create solutions of this solution type in the SDB and choose Create and Link Problem, this default value is proposed automatically.

To define new solution types:

1. Choose New Entries.
2. Enter a 2-character ID for the solution type, a description, and other data as required.
3. Save your data.
