In the Solution Database (SDB), users can create an analysis of a problem by specifying one or more locations, damages, or causes. In addition, they can categorize the problem by specifying a problem code. For solutions, they can specify one or more tasks. Each location, damage, cause, problem code, and task has a location code, damage code, cause code, problem code, and task code respectively. These individual codes are grouped together in location code groups, damage code groups, cause code groups, problem code groups, and task code groups, which in turn are grouped together in location catalogs, damage catalogs, cause catalogs, problem code catalogs, and task catalogs.

In this Implementation Guide (IMG) activity, you define the above catalogs. For each catalog, you must specify a catalog category as per the table below, and other data as required.

Catalog Catalog Category Internal ID
Location Defect Locations/Object Parts D
Damage Overview of Damage/Defects/Reasons C
Cause Causes E
Problem Code Codings B
Task Tasks T

Tasks

For each problem type that you define in Customizing for the Solution Database in the IMG activity Define Problem Types, you can specify a location catalog, damage catalog, cause catalog, and/or problem code catalog. Likewise, for each solution type that you define in Customizing for the Solution Database in the IMG activity Define Solution Types, you can specify a task catalog. As a result, when users maintain problems of this problem type, or solutions of this solution type in the SDB, the users can select only from the codes and code groups of the catalog specified for that problem type or solution type.
