You use this activity to maintain profiles for the warranty check. The profile controls how the warranty check should be performed in a business transaction in Service (service order, service confirmation).

The following prerequisites must be fulfilled for a warranty check to be performed in Service:

  • You have entered values for at least the Scope of Check and Reference Date fields.
  • You have activated the warranty check. To do this a profile must be assigned at the level of business transaction category assignment in the Customizing activity Define Transaction Types. Proceed as follows:
  1. Select the required transaction type. The warranty check is possible for the following transaction types:
- Service order
- Service confirmation
- Inbound warranty claim
  1. Assign the transaction type to the leading business transaction category Service.
  2. Then switch to Customizing at header level. Select the required profile in the Wrrnty Check Profile field. Save your entries. The warranty check is then activated for the relevant transaction type.

When creating a new warranty check profile, firstly you enter a name for the profile. This cannot be changed.

You can also enter a description for the profile and maintain the following parameters:

  • Scope of Check:
Here you specify which warranty categories should be included in the warranty check.
Note: This field must be maintained if a warranty check should be performed. If the field is left empty, no warranty check is performed.
  • Reference Date:
You use this field to define the date type that should be used as reference date (for example, notification receipt, requested start) for the warranty check from the business transaction in Service. The system determines the date entered in the corresponding field in the business transaction, and checks whether the relevant object has a valid warranty at that time.
Note: This field must be maintained if a warranty check is to be performed. If the field is left empty, no warranty check is performed.
