Assign processor

Assign processors to the relevant tasks

General documentation

In this activity, you make all of the required settings to modify the standard SAP System tasks and the Workflow template. Carry out this activity only if you want to use the scenarios in the standard SAP System.

For each standard task you must specify possible processors to clearly define the organizational responsibility for the processing.

Workflow templates must be started online by your processors. If a scenario is to be used, then the corresponding Workflow template must be started online so that the assignment of this Workflow template can be made for possible processors.

As a reaction to events generated from the application functions, you must start a standard request or a Workflow template. To do so, there are certain events in the standard task or Workflow template that are triggering events. Activate the link between the triggering event and the task if you want to set up a link between the event and the standard task or Workflow template as prescribed by SAP.

Make sure that Customizing in SAP Basis is carried out completely for the SAP Workflow Management (WFM) application component.

  1. Carry out the activity and choose the application components from the component hierarchy for which you want to be able to:
  • Assign any potential processors for the standard tasks
  • Activate the triggering events for standard tasks and Workflow templates
  1. Expand the "Assign Tasks to Processors" node
  2. Select a standard task for processing
Assign the standard task to your permitted processors. This assignment determines the total number of persons who are permitted to process this task.
Specify all possible processors for this task by:
  • Job

  • Organizational unit

  • Position

  • Work center

  • User

Multiple assignments are permitted.
Alternatively, you can classify a standard task as a "general task."
  1. Expand the "Activate event linkage" node
  2. Select a standard task or a Workflow template for processing
Only some of the standard tasks and Workflow templates are intended as triggering events. They are indicated as such by a folder icon before the names of the tasks. To display a triggering event, choose one of these icons.
  1. Activate event linkage
By activating event linkage users, you specify which of the links you actually want to use.

Standard tasks are usually assigned to organizational units, jobs, or positions so that personnel changes in the organizational structure do not require additional changes in the Workflow components.

For more information, see the Customizing sections for each of the application components.

In this Customizing activity, you can set up all standard tasks and Workflow templates you want to use during the implementation phase. You can also, however, execute the necessary steps from the definition environment for tasks later.
