In this Customizing activity, you define the navigation options that are available from a workflow task in the worklist for Service to fit your business needs. In addition to defining the navigation options for workflow tasks in Service, you can define the navigation options for workflow tasks located in other logical SAP systems that are integrated in the workflow inbox of the worklist in Service.

Moreover, you can define at what point in workflow processing a workflow task is set to Completed.

In order to customize the navigation, assign workflow tasks to object types on the user interface (UI), and to UI actions, such as Display or Edit.

It may make sense to define your own navigation if you want to use a task-specific UI object that you defined yourself and a task-specific UI component, for example. Another example is if you want different workflow tasks to be used in a workflow for the same business step, depending on the business role.

This Customizing activity is a version of the following Customizing activity that is tailored to workflow tasks: Service --> Basic Functions --> Worklist --> Define Object-Specific Navigation.

Note the following effects of the settings made in this Customizing activity at runtime:

  • When a work item is executed, the worklist checks first whether task-specific Customizing settings exist.
In other words, the system looks for settings made in this Customizing activity.
  • If the system finds no task-specific Customizing settings, the worklist checks whether any object-specific Customizing exists for the worklist.
For more information, see Customizing for Service under Basic Functions --> Worklist --> Define Object-Specific Navigation.
  • If the system does not find any such Customizing settings, the normal navigation, which is based on the BOR object, occurs. In this case, the system also checks whether method IF_CRM_UI_OBJ_MAPPER~GET_ENTITY_FROM_BOR for the BOR instance can output a BOL entity, and combines the BOL entity with the navigation indicator in the data transfer for the navigation.
When you use this default navigation, the UI action Display is always used.
  • If object-specific Customizing is available for the worklist, the worklist first checks whether an entry for the corresponding object method exists. If no entry exists, the default entry (object type without method) is used.
