SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you integrate other SAP systems in the workflow inbox of the worklist in Service.

In order to receive and display workflow tasks from other SAP systems in the workflow inbox, you have to enter the SAP systems in question in this Customizing activity.

At runtime, Service checks if workflow tasks from integrated SAP systems that are entered into this Customizing activity are available for the users currently logged on to Service.

  • RFC destination
You have mapped the integrated SAP systems to an RFC destination. You do this in transaction Assign RFC Destinations for Synchronous Method Calls.
  • Transaction launcher
You have defined the integrated SAP systems in transaction Transaction Launcher Logical Systems and URLs.
In this transaction, you have to ensure that the mapping of the integrated systems is unique (one mapping per system only), and that you have assigned the correct ITS client and the correct URL for the ITS. Note that you have to enter the integrated SAP systems in the Logical System column.
  • Trusted RFC connection
For security reasons, the RFC connections of the integrated SAP systems have to be marked as Trusted Systems in Customizing activity Define RFC Destinations.
Marking an RFC connection as trusted ensures that the RFC logon to the integrated SAP systems is carried out via the SAP user of the current user in the Service system. Alternatively, a general RFC user can be set up.
  • Identical user ID
You have ensured that the user IDs are identical in the Service system and in the integrated SAP systems.
You do this in User Maintenance.
This is important for the following reasons:
  • In order to identify workflow tasks for a Service user in integrated SAP systems

  • In order to identify the correct substitute for a Service user in integrated SAP systems

  • Identical substitute profile
You have ensured that the workflow substitute profile IDs are identical in the Service system and in the integrated SAP systems.
You can maintain the substitute profile in Customizing activity Define Substitute Profile.
  • Limited number of integrated SAP systems
For performance reasons, we recommend that you connect only one other SAP system to the workflow inbox of the worklist, and by no means more than two.
  • Enter the SAP systems from which you want to receive and display workflow tasks in the worklist for Service in this Customizing activity.
  • If applicable, define on user level which of the SAP systems that are integrated into the workflow inbox of the worklist in Service are relevant for the user at runtime.
You do this via the Business Add-In (BAdI) Integrate Other SAP Systems in Workflow Inbox. For objects from integrated SAP systems, define the object-specific navigation options for the worklist in Service.
You can define the navigation options for objects from integrated SAP systems for object types based on the Business Object Repository (BOR), and for object types based on ABAP classes in the worklist. By defining these navigation options, you are mapping object types from integrated SAP systems to object types of the Service user interface.
You do this in the Customizing activity Define Object-Specific Navigation.
If you do not define worklist-specific navigation options for objects from integrated SAP systems, the Service system checks if a navigation mapping has been defined for the transaction launcher.
Alternatively, you can display workflow tasks from other systems in their original system via button Display in Original System, and open attached objects from there.
  • For workflow tasks from integrated SAP systems, define the task-specific navigation options for the worklist in Service.
By defining these navigation options, you are mapping workflow tasks from integrated SAP systems to workflow tasks of the Service user interface.
You do this in the Customizing activity Define Task-Specific Navigation.
