SAP E-Book

In this activity, you specify the process flow control of customer-specific segments.

Normally, customer-specific segments are extracted after segments provided by SAP.

  1. In the Sequence column, enter a number to specify the sequence of the segments during extraction.
Generally the sequence is not important. However, if there are dependencies due to the technical implementations of the assigned selection modules, it is important to ensure the correct sequence.
  1. In the Segment Name column, specify which segment is extracted based on the sequence.
  2. Enter the implementation of the extraction in the Selection Module column.
For customer-specific segments, we strongly recommend that you use your own customer-specific selection modules. The reason behind this is that the selection modules provided by SAP can be changed, and therefore they might no longer meet the needs of the selection logic.
  1. In the Selection Parameter column, enter the selection parameter implemented by SAP in the extraction program, which is to be used to select the segment in the given extraction run.
It is not possible for you to define customer-specific selection parameters.
  1. If you want a segment to be processed, even if it was deselected due to the selection parameters in the extraction program, then enter a value in the Always column.
  2. Due to the dependencies in the implementation of the selection modules, you might have to coordinate the extraction of customer-specific segments with the extraction of SAP segments. In that case, enter the number of the sequence of the SAP segment in the Seq.Insert (Sequence Number for Insertion) column.
In that case, the extraction program processes the customer-specific segment immediately after the SAP segment, based on the sequence that was entered, rather than waiting until just after the last SAP segment was processed.
