In this Customizing activity, you define the search sequence for choosing files to be displayed as a thumbnail in the master data. If you use the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer on the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance to visualize technical objects, you can also display a 2D image or 3D scene of the object.

If you want to use the integrated SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer, the following prerequisites apply:

  • To integrate the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer on the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance, activate the business function Integration with SAP 3D Visual Enterprise (LOG_EAM_VE_INT).
  • To use the integrated SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in the corresponding SAP GUI transactions, activate the parameter SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Integration in SAP GUI (VE_INT_GUI) in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service under System Enhancements and Data Transfer --> Activate Functions for Enterprise Asset Management.
  • To assign documents directly to the task list, activate the parameter Document Assignment to Task List in SAP GUI (DOC_TL_GUI) as well.
  • To directly assign documents to maintenance orders, activate the business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 6 (LOG_EAM_CI_6).

  1. In the SAP Object field, enter the SAP object that you want to display in the Viewer or as a thumbnail.
    In Plant Maintenance the following SAP objects are relevant: EQUI (Equipment), IFLOT (Functional Location), MARA (Material Master), PMAUFK (Maintenance Order), PMAFVC (Maintenance Operation), PMPLKO (Maint. Task List) and PMPLPO (Maint. Task List Operation).
  2. In the Viewing Application field, choose the viewing application in which you want the file to be displayed, for example Thumbnail, Spare Part or Visual Instructions.
  3. In the Usage field, enter PM (Plant Maintenance) as the SAP application for which the search sequence is applicable.
  4. In the Sequence field, enter the sequence number that the system uses when searching for files.
  5. In the Document Type field, enter the document type of the document info record that you want to display, for example, VI for visual instructions, SP for spare parts or DRW for engineering or design drawings.
  6. In the Application field, enter the application type of the file for displaying the object. You can use RH files from the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer, but also other formats such as JPG files or animated GIF files to display thumbnails.
  7. In the Status field, enter the status that the file must have so that it can be used to display the object.

Note:

  • On the PM object pages, thumbnails can only be displayed for the SAP objects EQUI (Equipment), IFLOT (Functional Location), PMAUFK (Maintenance Order), and PMQMEL (Maintenance Notification).
  • To display thumbnails in the Web Dynpro apps Create Technical Object, Change Technical Object, or Display Technical Object, you have to make the relevant Customizing settings in Customizing for Logistics-General under Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) --> PLM Web User Interface --> Objects in PLM Web UI --> Document in PLM Web UI --> Define Search Sequence for Viewable File.
