SAP E-Book

The application help and the training courses contain book structures. It can take some time to build the display format of these book structures, especially if these books are called frequently. In this case the book structures are buffered in the status built with the short descriptions for the individual chapters (title lines).

If only the short descriptions (titles) but not the book structures themselves are changed, the book structure that is displayed might not be the most recent one. The display format is only built again when the buffering entries expire.

SAP sets the buffering times to 1 week (604800 seconds) by default. These expiry times can be changed if required.

To reduce the problem of obsolete book structures in such systems in which the application help or the training course has to be changed frequently, you should reduce the default buffering time.

If you only want to display the application help or the training course, you should not change the default buffering times.

  1. Execute the activity.
  2. You now have the following options:
  • You can change the expiry time in seconds for your document class.

  • You can add new entries.

  • You can copy and change existing entries.

  • You can delete existing entries.

  • You can revoke your changes.

Choose the corresponding symbol for the desired activity.
  1. Save your entries.

Reducing the buffering times results in the displayed structures being built more frequently, which could result in a loss in performance.
