SAP E-Book

Allows you to define role types for project roles and enable them for usage in projects with selected project profiles, such as internal projects or customer projects.

You can create and maintain role types for project roles in professional service projects.
Note that these role types are not relevant for the team roles assigned to work packages, they are required for adding project roles to the project header. In a project, you can assign only one business user to each role type enabled for the project.

You can assign a partner function to role types in this configuration step. This is necessary if a role type is relevant for the integration of professional service projects with Sales. Business partner assignments to project roles are only transferred to the corresponding sales order if the role type is assigned to a partner function from Sales.

By assigning one or more project profiles to a role type, you enable the role type for usage in projects with these profiles.

You have set up the required partner functions in the configuration step Sales -> Partner Determination -> Set Up Partner Determination for Sales Document Header as follows:

  • You have created partner functions with the partner type PE (Personnel Number).
  • You have assigned these partner functions to the partner determination procedure assigned to sales document type SO01.

Note that each partner function can be assigned to one role type only.

Note:
If you would also like to transfer the new partner functions to debit memo requests and billing documents, you have to include them in the partner determination procedures assigned to the relevant debit memo request types, item categories, and billing item category.

SAP delivers standard role types for both professional service projects and enterprise projects used in Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management. Note, however, that you cannot change standard role types for enterprise projects or define custom role types for enterprise projects.
