The Customizing activities for data replication enable you to specify how data is replicated to one or more target systems. For example, you can specify the filters for selecting data to be transferred.

The Customizing activities are grouped as follows:

  • Define Custom Settings for Data Replication

In this node, you define communication-relevant settings for business systems involved in data replication, create your own replication models, and define business object settings.

  • Enhance Default Settings for Outbound Implementations
In this node you reference existing outbound implementations or define your own ones. Each replication model you define can consist of one or more outbound implementations.
Do not change or copy any aspect of the outbound implementations we deliver. This restriction is the result of strict dependencies between filter objects and outbound implementations. If you need to implement your own outbound implementations or any element contained within them (for example a service operation), first implement the appropriate class, and then create your own outbound implementation using the customer name space.
You must follow the sequence of the customizing activities.
Each Outbound Implementation is assigned:
  • Parameters

  • Filter objects

  • Business objects

  • Service operations

  • Outbound interface models

In the sub node Define Business Objects and Object Identifiers you define business objects, assign filter objects to them, define appropriate object identifiers, and associate key structures with the business objects.
  • Enterprise Services > Service Mapping
In this node you:
  • Define package groups that consist of one or more packages and assign a package group to a mapping

  • Verify that the mapping is correctly customized.

  • Business Add-Ins (BAdIs)
In this node you implement BAdIs
  • BAdI: Definition of Language-Dependent Texts

Change the default system behavior for transferring texts in various languages.
  • BAdI: Prepare Data for Download File

Format the file for downloading data from the FIN-MDM system.
  • BAdI: Prepare Upload Data

Upload master data, language-dependent texts, and hierarchies to MDGF.
  • BAdI: Creation of MDG Change Pointers from ALE Change Pointers

Create Master Data Governance change pointers from ALE change pointers for selected message types.

You have maintained the System Landscape Directory.

You have set up communications between systems by completing one or all of the following tasks:

  • Connecting a Process Integration (PI) system
  • Using transaction SOAMANAGER to configure peer-to-peer communication

You have activated the CA_MDP_DRF_01 BC set to import SAP content for the data replication framework and content for the Customizing tables of the data replication framework. To do this, use transaction SCPR20.

To process change messages, you must create your own ALE message type for each business object. First you define what kind of ALE types are used for the BAdI Creation of Change Pointers from ALE to MDG. Then you implement the BAdI.

In Define Business Object Settings you must associate individual business objects with the ALE message types that are defined as filters within this BAdI. You can complete this action for your own business objects or for business objects that are predelivered by SAP.

ALE message types that are supplied by SAP have the DMFprefix. You can apply these, and, if necessary, copy and modify them on the SAP Easy Access screen, under Tools -> ALE -> ALE Development -> IDoc -> IDoc Type Development -> Logical Messages (transaction WE81).

For the change analysis, you must activate both the analysis itself and the corresponding message type. You can determine which ALE message type fields are relevant for the change analysis on the SAP Easy Access screen, under Tools -> ALE -> ALE Development -> IDoc -> Engineering Change Management -> Define Change-Relevant Fields(transaction BD52).

  1. Activate change pointer creation in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Application Server -> IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE)under Modelling and Implementing Business Processes -> Master Data Distribution -> Replication of Modified Data -> Activate Change Pointers - Generally (transaction BD61).
  2. Activate change pointer creation for ALE message types in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Application Server -> IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE)under Modelling and Implementing Business Processes -> Master Data Distribution -> Replication of Modified Data -> Activate Change Pointers for Message Types (transaction BD50).
  3. Configure your replication model or replication models in the Define Replication Models activity.
  4. If required, you can make specific settings for you outbound implementations and implement the Business Add-Ins.
