SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity you define which types of organizational objects you want to transfer between Employee Central and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The object types you enter here can be selected when replicating organizational data from Employee Central or when migrating organizational data to Employee Central.

When replicating organizational data from Employee Central you need to use the generic object replication, meaning, the generic OrganisationalObjectReplicationQuery and OrganisationalObjectReplicationResponse messages.

The following object types are defined by SAP in the SAP namespace (which means the ID starts with a number or with a letter between A and W):

  • 01 (Department)
  • 02 (Division)
  • 03 (Business Unit)
  • 04 (Job Classification)
  • 05 (Position)

To add object types, use the customer namespace (which means the ID can start with the letters X, Y, or Z).

  1. Add the Employee Central object types you want to transfer, and the corresponding ERP object types.
  2. For each object type you add, create an Employee Central entity and assign the Employee Central object type you've defined here. To do this, go to the Define Additional Employee Central Entities for Organizational Data Customizing activity.
For the object types defined by SAP, you can use the default Employee Central entities.
Note
There needs to be a 1:1 relation between object types and Employee Central entities. This means, you can't define two Employee Central entities that use the same type of data transfer and have the same object type assigned (for example two Web service-based Employee Central entities for the Location object type).

You make the following entry in this Customizing activity:

EC Object Type EC Object Type Text ERP Object Type ERP Object Type Text
ZL Location F Location

Then you go to the Define Additional Employee Central Entities for Organizational Data Customizing activity and create the following Employee Central entities:
