In this activity you define the Web service alias and the services for calling the product designer for integrated Product and Process Engineering from engineering desktop via the SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS).

Then you can navigate from engineering desktop directly to the product designer where you can display or change the variant assembly you created with engineering desktop.

You assign the service to an object type under Specify Object Types for Object Links from iPPE Objects.

The services EDESK_PDN2 for display mode and EDESK_PDN3 for change mode are supplied with the standard system.

If you want to use the services supplied with the standard system, you only have to enter the Web server address.

  1. Choose the Alias for Web Server of an SAP Transaction view and enter an alias for the address of the Web server on which transaction PDN will run.
  2. If you want to define parameters for the Web server, select the new alias and choose the Parameter for Web Service for an SAP Transaction view.

To create a new Web service, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose the Service for SAP Transaction view and enter a new service.
  2. Select the new service and choose the Parameter for Service view.
Enter the following parameters and specify the corresponding values for navigation.

Other parameters are defined in structure EDESK_UI_IPPE_INT_ID.
  1. Choose the Alias for Web Server of an SAP Transaction view and enter an alias for the address of the Web server on which the product designer will run.
  2. If you want to define parameters for the Web server, select the new alias and choose the Parameter for Web Service for an SAP Transaction view.
Enter the parameters and specify the corresponding values.
