SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you can configure the data sources used by the report for transferring chemicals with the specification type Real Substance and/or Real Substance Group from the specification database of SAP EHS Management as part of SAP ERP to the add-on SAP EHS Management. The risk assessment application uses this data in chemical agents.

Once you have configured the sources of data to transfer, you can execute the report (R_EHFND_FILL_CHM_BY_EHS_SUBST) to create chemicals in the add-on system. Note that the chemical business object provides data to the chemical agent. After initially creating a chemical with the report, each additional execution of the report updates the existing data to ensure that changes made in the specification database are reflected in the add-on system.

For more information about configuring the report, see SAP Help at http://help.sap.com/ehs-comp under Application Help -> SAP Library (select your language), then choose SAP EHS Management -> Foundation for EHS Management -> Chemicals -> Transferring Data from the Specification Database.

  • You use the specification database on a remote system and have entered data for substances with the specification type Real Substance and/or Real Substance Group.
  • You have searched for substances and saved the results as a set of hits that you want to transfer. Only substances that are real substances or real substance groups are transferred.
  • If you use phrases (for example, for colors) in the EHS system, you can migrate them to the configuration tables of the add-on using the report Migration of Phrases from EHS to EHHSS Configuration Tables (R_EHHSS_PHRASE_MIGRATE). For more information about phrases and the relevant configuration tables, see the report documentation R_EHFND_FILL_CHM_BY_EHS_SUBST.

  1. Check the existing examples and adapt them as required.
  2. For the following data sources, the system transfers a value from the specification database to the add-on system. If you want to adapt the standard Customizing entries for these data sources, you can specify the value assignment type (as the technical key of the data source) and the characteristic:
  • Color

  • Form

  • Hazard Classification

  • Hazardous Ingredients*

  • Hazard Statement

  • Odor

  • State of Matter (provides the hazard)

  • Identification Listing* (provides the chemical name)

  • Identification Listing for Listed Substances* (provides the listed substance name and CAS number)

*Requires only a technical key and no characteristic.
  1. For the following data sources, the system uses the technical keys of the data sources to identify the substances to transfer and transfers only the substances of the specified set of hits and with the corresponding attributes. If you want to adapt the standard entries for these data sources, specify only the technical key.
  • Set of Hits - Group

  • Set of Hits - Group Entry

  • Value Assignment Rating (Usage)

  • Validity Area (Usage)

  1. For the data source Report Generation Variant, the system uses the technical key to identify the report generation variant of documents in the specification database to transfer to the attachment folder of a chemical. These documents (for example, vendor safety data sheets) appear on the Documents tab for the chemical agent.

You want to transfer chemical data, such as the color of a chemical, to the add-on from the specification database. You use the following Customizing entries:

  • Data Source Description: Color (property in property tree)
  • Technical Key of Data Source: SAP_EHS_1013_008 (Value Assignment Type)
  • Characteristic: SAP_EHS_1013_008_VALUE (field that contains the value for the property color)
