In this Customizing activity, you can define odors of chemicals. You can select from the odors specified here when you edit chemical data in the application.

During a risk assessment process, you can use the odor to help identify a chemical. Specifying the odor of hazardous chemicals is important, since a pungent odor can often act as a warning. Hydrogen cyanide (HCN), for example, has a characteristic odor of bitter almonds.
