Specify number ranges used in Product Compliance.

You can specify number ranges for objects that are used in Product Compliance.

When you create or migrate an unpackaged product, raw material, packaged product, or company substance, the system uses the number ranges specified.

Create Objects

When you create an unpackaged product, raw material, packaged product, or company substance, the system automatically assigns a consecutive number from the internal number range interval that you have specified.

For the creation of unpackaged products, raw materials, or packaged products, the system determines the internal number range as follows:

  • If the specification type REAL_SUB is specified in the Specify Specification TypesCustomizing activity under Product Safety and Stewardship -> Basic Data and Tools -> Specification Management -> Specification Master, the system uses the internal number range assigned to this specification type.
  • If the specification type REAL_SUB is not specified, the system uses the internal number range 0I as specified in this configuration step.

For the creation of company substances, the system determines the internal number range as follows:

  • If the specification type PURE_SUB is specified in the Specify Specification TypesCustomizing activity under Product Safety and Stewardship -> Basic Data and Tools -> Specification Management -> Specification Master, the system uses the internal number range assigned to this specification type.
  • If the specification type PURE_SUBis not specified, the system uses the internal number range 0I as specified in this Configuration Step.

Migrate Objects

When you migrate an unpackaged product, raw material, or packaged product, you can assign an internal number from the internal or external number range:

  • Internal Number Assignment:
  • If the specification type REAL_SUBis specified, the system checks whether the internal number is within the internal number range assigned to this specification type.

  • If the specification type REAL_SUBis not specified, the SAP system checks whether the internal number is within the number range 0I that you have specified in this Configuration Step. The system accepts the internal number within the internal number range and sets the last number range status.

  • External Number Assignment:
  • If the specification type REAL_SUBis specified, the system checks whether the internal number is within the external number range assigned to this specification type.

  • If the specification type REAL_SUB is not specified, the SAP system checks whether the internal number is within the external number range 0E that you have specified in this Configuration Step.

When you migrate a company substance, you can assign an internal number from the internal or external number range:

  • Internal Number Assignment:
  • If the specification type PURE_SUBis specified, the system checks whether the internal number is within the internal number range assigned to this specification type.

  • If the specification type PURE_SUB is not specified, the SAP system checks whether the internal number is within the number range 0I that you have specified in this Configuration Step. The system accepts the internal number within the internal number range and sets the last number range status.

  • External Number Assignment:
  • If the specification type PURE_SUBis specified, the system checks whether the internal number is within the external number range assigned to this specification type.

  • If the specification type PURE_SUBdoes not exist, the SAP system checks whether the internal number is within the external number range 0E that you have specified in this Configuration Step.

Create Objects

When you create an unpackaged product, raw material, packaged product, or company substance, the system automatically assigns a consecutive number from the internal number range 0I as specified in this Configuration Step.

Migrate Objects

When you migrate an unpackaged product, raw material, packaged product, or company substance you can assign an internal number from the internal or external number range:

  • Internal Number Assignment:
  • The SAP system checks whether the internal number is within the number range 0Ithat you have specified in this Configuration Step. The system accepts the internal number within the internal number range and sets the last number range status.

  • External Number Assignment:
  • The SAP system checks whether the internal number is within the external number range 0E that you have specified in this Configuration Step.

If you have previously used the number range object for the specification keys in Product Safety and Stewardship, it is recommended that you set the number range status for the internal number range (assigned to the specification type or 0I) to the last possible number range status across all number ranges.

The standard system is delivered with settings for internal number ranges.

If you have previously used the number range object for the specification keys in Product Safety and Stewardship, it is recommended that you set the number range status for the internal number range (assigned to the specification type or 0I) to the last possible number range status across all number ranges.

You have for example specified the following number ranges for specifications in Product Safety and Stewardship:

Number Range From Number To Number

0E A ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
0I 000000000001 1999999999999
1I 200000000000 2999999999999
2I 300000000000 3999999999999

And you have assigned the number ranges to the specification types as follows:

Specification Type Internal Number Range External Number Range

REAL_SUB 1I 0E
PURE_SUB 2I 0E

If you want to migrate data with the internal numbers that are used in Product Safety and Stewardship into Product Compliance, you can, for example, use the following number range settings:

Number Range From Number To Number Number Range Status
0E A ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
0I 000000000001 8999999999999 400000000000

Activities

  1. Check the existing entries and change, if necessary, the internal number range to fit your requirements.
  2. If applicable, assign the number ranges to the specification types in the Specify Specification TypesCustomizing activity under Product Safety and Stewardship -> Basic Data and Tools -> Specification Management -> Specification Master.

Check the existing entries and change, if necessary, the internal number range to fit your requirements.

Note in Transport

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.

Note: Number ranges are client dependent.
