Define how safety instructions for substances can be created in your company.

With this activity, you can define how safety instructions for substances can be created in your company.

• You have defined the structures that you want to use for your safety instructions. For more information, see the Customizing for Environment, Health, and Safety under Health and Safety Management -> Risk Treatment -> Safety Instructions -> Define Structures.

• You have defined templates for safety instructions. These templates are used when generating safety instruction documents. For more information, see the Customizing for Environment, Health, and Safetyunder Foundation for EHS -> Print Forms and Interactive Forms -> Specify Forms.

1. For each plant where you want to create safety instructions for substances, create an entry.
2. Assign a safety instruction structure to the corresponding plant.

• You can create only safety instructions for locations that carry one of the created combinations of plant and location type in their header data.

• Locations with missing plant assignments are matched against the customizing entry with an empty plant.

1. In addition, assign the form template used for generating a safety instruction document for substances.
2. The templates can either be provided as a direct link to a form (Form Object Name column) or via a reference to the form definition (Output Management Form Name column).

• For the form definitions, see the Customizing for Environment, Health, and Safety under Foundation for EHS -> Print Forms and Interactive Forms -> Specify Forms.

• It is recommended to use the form definition option. The Form Object Name column exists only for downward compatibility.

1. Under Configure Application Settings, choose one of the following:

• Select Allow All Substances: Allow the creation of safety instructions for all substances available in your system.

• Deselect Allow All Substances: Allow the creation of safety instructions only for those substances included in the hazardous substance inventory of the relevant location.
