In this Customizing activity, you assign units of measurement to the corresponding ESCom phrases.

  • Outbound Processing:
When you generate an ESComXML file, the system replaces the unit of measurement of a characteristic value with the assigned ESCom phrase in the XML attribute.
  • Inbound Processing:
When you import ESComXML files, the system replaces the ESCom phrase in the XML attribute with the assigned unit of measurement in the characteristic value.

Select the unit of measurement that you use in value assignment types in the substance workbench and that you need to exchange ESComXML files.

Assign an ESCom phrase to the unit of measurement.

Note:

  • Outbound Processing:
  • If the system cannot determine any ESCom phrases when generating the ESComXML file, a conversion to another unit of measurement that is assigned an ESCom phrase takes place within the dimension.

  • If an ESCom phrase still cannot be determined, the placeholder phrase is used in the ESComXML file.

  • Inbound Processing:
  • If the system cannot determine a unit of measurement when importing ESComXML data, the system terminates the import. The import status and the processing status of the import request are set to Import Failed.
