SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you set up the distribution of hazardous substance master data.

  1. In Customizing for Application Link Enabling (ALE), you have made the required settings. These include:
    1. Under Define Logical Systems, you have defined the logical systems for the recipients.
    2. Under Create RFC Connections, you have created the RFC destinations for the recipients.
    3. Under Determine RFC Destinations for Method Calls, you have specified the RFC connections for method calls.
  2. In the SAP menu under Tools -> ALE -> ALE Administration -> Runtime Settings -> Port Maintenance, you have defined the port descriptions for the recipients.
  3. In the Hazardous Substance Management component, you have made the following settings:
    1. Specify the hazardous substance master data you want to distribute as follows:
For manual distribution of hazardous substance master data, choose Hazardous Substance Management -> Hazardous Substance Master -> Send -> Start Sending.
For automatic distribution of hazardous substance master data, you can use the distribution with change pointer evaluation function. You can schedule this to run periodically as a report.
In both cases you must have activated the change pointers (see below).
  1. Check the authorizations. Both for manual and for automatic distribution, you require authorization to display and distribute hazardous substance master data (authorization object HSMA) and authorization for the message type HAZARDOUSSUBSTANCE (authorization object B_ALE_MAST). You also require the necessary authorization for inbound processing in the target system.
  1. Edit the distribution model in Customizing for Application Link Enabling (ALE).
    1. Process the IMG activity Generate Partner Profiles.
    2. Process the IMG activity Maintain Distribution Model and Distribute Views.
To guarantee communication between the systems during distribution, you must make the following entries in this IMG activity by choosing Add BAPI:
Field Entry
Sender/client:
Receiver/server:
Object name/interface: HazardousSubstance
Method: SaveReplicate (distribute to target systems and post in target systems)

Note:
The message type HAZARDOUSSUBSTANCE is supported.
  1. Then make the settings in the sending and receiving systems. The following objects must already exist in the target system with the required format:
  • Entries in Customizing tables

  • Materials for the logical key

  • Change numbers

  • Phrases

  1. Check the control data you want to distribute (see previous step).
  2. If errors occur during posting, you can check the import log in the target system to see which errors occurred.

General Procedure

  1. Start the initial distribution without using change pointer evaluation. To do this, choose Hazardous Substance Management -> Hazardous Substance Master -> Send -> Start Sending and do not set the Change Pointer Evaluation indicator.
Using the environment parameter HSM_DIST_BLOCK_SIZE, you can specify how many hazardous substance master objects are distributed in one IDoc.
  1. Switch on delta distribution:
    1. Activate the change pointers generally.
To generally activate master data distribution using change pointers, in Customizing for Application Link Enabling (ALE) choose the IMG activity Activate Change Pointers - Generally and set the Active indicator.
  1. Activate the change pointers for a message type.
Changes to master data objects are logged in the form of change pointers during master data distribution. To activate the writing of change pointers, in Customizing for Application Link Enabling (ALE) under Activate Change Pointers for Message Types, set the Active indicator for the message type HAZARDOUSSUBSTANCE.
  1. Activate the change pointers for each field.
In the SAP menu, choose Tools -> ALE -> ALE Development -> IDoc -> Engineering Change Management -> Define Change-Relevant Fields and enter the message type HAZARDOUSSUBSTANCE. All relevant data fields are delivered. If necessary, adjust the table to your requirements.
  1. Execute delta distribution.
You can perform delta distribution manually or schedule it as a job.
To perform delta distribution manually, in the SAP menu choose Tools -> ALE -> ALE Administration -> Services -> Change Pointers -> Evaluate, enter the message type HAZARDOUSSUBSTANCE, and choose Execute.
To schedule delta distribution as a job, in Customizing for Application Link Enabling (ALE) under Define Variants create a variant. Then in the IMG activity Schedule Jobs, create a job (RBDMIDOC) for the variant. You can set the time at which distribution is performed, for example, immediately after a change or periodically.

When transferring data, all hazardous substance master data records are deleted in the target system and are created again as new records during distribution.
