EHS_MD_110_05_7 - Set Up Job for Deleting Data

In this IMG activity, you set up a job for the report RC1PHDEL.

SAP recommends that you schedule the job regularly for the following reasons:

• Specifications that are deleted using the deletion indicator but are not physically deleted retain their links to phrases. This prevents you being able to delete the linked phrases.

• IDs of objects that are only deleted using the deletion indicator are locked and cannot be reused, meaning you can only assign this ID again after the deletion report has been run.

• The deletion report creates memory space and improves performance.

Choose System -> Services -> Jobs -> Define Job and set up a job. Note the following when you do this:

• Schedule the job as a periodic job.

• Enter RC1PHDEL as the ABAP program.

• If you distribute objects (specifications, phrases, or reports) using ALE, see the Note on Executing the Report Program RC1PHDEL.

• If you use the report program RC1_CHANGE_DOCS_GET in the IMG activity Set Up Job for Creation of Change Documents, start RC1PHDEL only after RC1_CHANGE_DOCS_GET has finished processing. Otherwise, RC1PHDEL would delete data that RC1_CHANGE_DOCS_GET requires for its processing.
