In this Customizing activity, you configure the following settings in the WWI.INI file:

  • You set up the paths so that Microsoft Word can find the WWI directories GRAPHICS and LANG.
  • You adapt the WWI.INI file so that documents from the document management system can be integrated into reports. The document is then inserted into the report at the position at which the symbol is located.
  • You check the [Fonts] section to determine the fonts for reports.

Note:By default, no activity is required because the WWI setup makes the necessary standard settings, which you only need to modify to suit any special requirements you may have.

Open the WWI.INI file.

  • To set up the path for the directories GRAPHICS and LANG, make the following entries:

For local WWI installation:
  1. Open the WWI.INI file on your front-end PC under the WWI installation directory (for example, C:\WWI).
  2. Under [Paths], enter the WWI installation directory as GUI-HOME, for example, GUI-HOME=C:\WWI.
  3. If the graphics are located in a different subdirectory, you can specify the subdirectory name in an additional entry (GRAPHICS=MYGRAPHICS, for example).
  • For central WWI installation:
  1. Open the WWI.INI file on the file server under the WWI installation directory (for example, C:\WWI).
  2. Under [Paths], enter as GUI-HOME the path via which the respective front-end PCs reference the WWI installation (GUI-HOME=Z:\WWI, for example) or enter the file server (GUI-HOME=\\Fileserver\WWI, for example).
  3. If the graphics are located in a different subdirectory, you can specify the subdirectory name in an additional entry (GRAPHICS=MYGRAPHICS, for example).
  • To be able to integrate DMS documents, adapt the settings under [DocumentTypes]. This section contains the file extensions for the following different insert methods:
  • GRAPHIC

  • FILE

  • OBJECT

Comments

  • The WWI.INI entries control which Word command the Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) program uses to insert the document:
  • Insert -> Graphic -> From File for graphics (GRAPHIC entry)

  • Insert -> File for other documents (FILE entry)

  • Insert -> Object for any formats that are edited using other OLE-compatible applications, such as PowerPoint or Excel (OBJECT entry)

  • If the section or the entry for the file extension is missing, OBJECT is used as the default.

  1. To set up the fonts on reports, check the [Fonts] section and adapt it accordingly.
  2. To activate the compression of report bodies, set the parameter COMPRESSRESULT to the value 1 under [Global].

With the program RC1_REPORT_TO_ZIP, you can compress all report bodies already stored in the SAP database.

  1. Configure the following security settings for WWI:
    1. Specify the maximum file size for documents and print requests generated via WWI using the MaxFileSize parameter under [Global]. You can specify values between 0 and 512 megabytes here; the default value is 256.
    2. Specify the value 1 using the DisableWwiServerInfo parameter under [Global]. This prevents external access to the WWI system information (via the WWI server monitor, for example). The default value is 0.
