In this IMG activity, you can specify settings for concurrent employment (CE) and global employment (GE)-enabled Employee Self-Service applications. When you select an application, the system uses these settings to create a dialog box with a choice of personnel assignments. You must choose one of the personnel assignments to proceed to the application.

For example, a professor at a university also holds two other personnel assignments with that university, working as a librarian and a consultant on a part-time basis. He currently has to log on with separate ESS users to maintain his personal data, such as bank details and time management, for each of the different personnel assignments. After implementing group definition settings for CE, he can log on to ESS with a single user, and maintain personal data for all personnel assignments.

You must perform the settings outlined in Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Personnel Administration → Basic Settings → Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment or Global Settings for Global Employee in Customizing for Personnel Management by choosing Management of Global Employees → Global Settings.

There are new Customizing activities in Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment that must be performed in order to retrieve and maintain data of all personnel assignments with one user:

You need to identify the application by providing the following attributes:

  • Application ID
  • Application Name

Specify the grouping reader class for this application. The application retrieves personnel assignment data using this class.

Choose from the following grouping reader classes:

  • All assignments: CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO
  • Legal employer grouping: CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO_PAY
  • For example, use for salary statement for US-scenario only

The class CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO_PAY groups the personnel assignments based on the legal employers.
  • Benefit area grouping: CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO_BEN
  • For example, use for benefits and payment

The class CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO_BEN groups the personnel assignments based on the benefits area.
  • Release working-time grouping: CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_CATS_RELE
  • For example, use for release working time

The class CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_CATS_RELE provides the personnel assignments for which time recording must be released.

If your application requires specific grouping processing, use the following interface: IF_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO

Set the grouping reader class. You can activate CE/GE enablement for this application.

Let us assume that you want to make a group definition setting for the Personal Profile application. Follow the steps below:

  1. Choose the activity CE/GE Group Definition Settings for ESS Applications.
  2. Select HRESS_A_PERSINFO as Application ID. Specify Application Name as HRESS_A_PERSINFO.
  3. Enter CL_HRXSSCE_PERNR_GRP_INFO (Personnel information grouping) as Grouping Reader Class.
  4. Select the Activate checkbox to enable CE/GE for this application.
