ESS_WDA_LPD_CUST_001 - Set Up Launchpad (Employee Services)

In this activity, you define the applications (links to Web Dynpro Applications, reports, transactions, URLs, and so on) for the Launchpad (ABAP) service HRESS_A_MENU available for the role Employee Self-Service in the iView Overview.

You must implement the Business Package for Common Parts.

SAP delivers the following standard setup for transaction LPD_CUST which contains a complete menu set-up for the Employee Self-Service role: Role=ESS; Instance=MENU; Version=2

The services are filtered according to the country to which the logged-in user belongs. The service filtering is based on the application parameter COUNTRYGROUPING. Applications which have this parameter set are available only to those employees who belong to the specified country.

You can create all applications directly under the existing folders. Or you can subdivide the launchpad further by creating additional folders. In the portal, the folders serve as headers for the links to the applications.

To create an additional folder, choose the folder under which you want to create the new folder. Choose New Folder. Enter a text for the new folder and choose Enter. The folder is inserted under the selected folder.

To create applications, select the folder under which you want to create the applications and choose New Application. Select the Application Type. Depending on this selection, further input fields are displayed, with which you can set or select the application's parameters.

If you want to create a description that is displayed in the portal under then link, choose @0Q@ with the quick info text Editor for the description.

If the application type selection results in the System Alias field being displayed, you must enter a System Alias.

If you have copied the standard shipped ESS role in Launchpad or have created a new role and want to be able to filter by country in the Launchpad application*, you must adapt the standard shipped component configuration HRESS_CC_MENU_AREA_GROUP to point to the new role name.
