ESS_WDA_PFCG_001 - Set Up PFCG Menu

The role maintainance (transaction PFCG) is the central repository for all SAP system roles. It is used to set up the menu structure for the role Employee Self-Service which can be displayed in the SAP NetWeaver Business Client.

The PFCG role enables you to create overview and area pages, thereby providing your employees easy access to the Web applications (services) they need. These pages group and describe the different services and contain hyperlinks with which they can be started.

The menu delivered in the PFCG role is accessed through either the NWBC for HTML or NWBC Stand Alone Client.

As a standard shipment for the ESS menu, the PFCG composite role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_2 is delivered. The standard menu is rendered according to the menu structure defined in this role.

The services are filtered according to the country to which the logged-in user belongs. The service filtering is based on the application parameter COUNTRYGROUPING. Applications which have this parameter set are available only to those employees who belong to the specified country.

All authorizations required to run the applications are part of the authorization profile in the included Single Roles of the composite Role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_2.

It is possible to define a dynamic rendering of the menu with Business Add-In HRESS_MENU.

In this Customizing activity you create your customer-specifc role based on the composite role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_2.

If you have copied the standard shipped ESS role in PFCG or have created a new PFCG role and want to be able to filter by country in NWBC, you must add the new role name as filter value to BAdI implementation HRESS_COUNTRY_FILTER.
